As the Buddha once wisely said, "Suffering is wishing things were other than they are." I sure wish Explorer hadn't locked up after I spent 30 minutes completing a new post. So I guess it's time to stop suffering and start re-writing...

i hate that - hasnt happened since I moved to a Mac - but used to happen all the time on my old PC. I feel for you.

I don't always do this, but for long posts I often do: use notepad or an equiv. to type out the post, then copy & paste over only when you're ready to update. That way you can save it as you go, just in case of crashes like that. Has saved me from the cluthes of many an IE or Windows error.
