Today is a fantastic day for running... sun is out, no wind, a bit on the cool side but comfortable. I decided to run over the Bridge and back. Instructions were to start out easy and then work on negative splits.
First glimpse of the bridge while running through the Presidio...
Gorgeous springtime landscaping...
I love this view from the base of the Bridge... so dramatic.
I tried to take a pic of the City from the middle of the bridge, but the sun and haze didn't make for a good photo op. Next time.
The good news is that I felt pretty strong on this run. Maintained a very steady pace, even back up hill, and picked up the pace the last 2 miles... 8.75 total. Another 4 miles this evening for my first 13 mile day.
JEN!! I hope you get this note, Its the only spot I found to leave you an answer to your shark question....
As of 4pm last night a few of our beaches were still shut, I think your safest plan is to swim at the pier if you stay in town, its more busy with swimmers & SUP's. It doesnt matter if you are deep or shallow, the sharks are in both and our 2 recent attacks were only 30ft from shore.
Avoid sun up or sun down if possible as those are the feeding times, other times the sharks are out there "looking to eat people" usually they bump into us and test what they hit because they are more afraid of us in most cases.
Dont be scared for the race, its going to a be a great, safe day! I just read your blog, you have worked really hard and I hope the day goes smooth for you!!
Oh, the coolest thing, is dolphins! There is a study that if dophins are out the sharks arent. In almost all situations the dolphin wins in a shark fight! They can swim so much faster, they ram a shark with their nose :)
ALl the best, holler if you need anything!
